WORK / PR / ‘ART WITH MY HEART’ (LIVE PROJECT)

    image

    ABOUT
Emerging London-born portrait artist, Peggy Seymour, seeks Kickstarter funding to develop her painting skills by creating twelve oil paintings of humans against black backgrounds and to share her discoveries in paint technique whilst doing so through a PDF “Method Book”.

Dissuaded from professional artistry by a miserable experience in formal art education, in 2006 Peggy began one of the UK’s first Etsy shops, adorapop.etsy.com, where she achieved over 10,000 sales of her handmade jewellery. Now, after a 10-year drought, she’s returning to her first love, has picked up her paintbrush again, and is finally ready to Art with Her Heart. She’s excited to share her journey with her growing community of backers.

As a backer of her Kickstarter project, Art with My Heart, you can opt to receive prints of her existing fandom-inspired work, the aforementioned Method Book or even to be drawn or painted yourself.

This project will only be funded if at least £3,500 is pledged by Thursday Apr 25, 11:37am EDT.

WORK / EXHIBITION / ‘LOLCAT TEH EXHIBISHUN’ (2013)

    image

    ABOUT
A 4-week long group art show exploring the weird and wonderful world of lolcats.

We brought together an array of cool cats and witty kitties – including graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, animators, and writers. Ignoring the crudely makeshift LOLCAT aesthetic, each of these artists came up with their unique take on the theme to create a piece of beautiful, amusing and exquisitely crafted LOLCAT art. The exhibition took place at The Framers Gallery and was held in aid of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

LOLCat Teh Documentary – Where art meets the internet

In order to create the LOLCAT film, we wanted to approach the piece in a style consistent with our own style, and unique to the genre. Most exhibition pieces are approached with an event videography style, whereas Other Finger Films want to tell stories; our passion is stories, so we treated the piece as a documentary, as a story of the people behind the event. The approach was to look at the power of self-belief, positivity and social media, so a story could be created and told.

Created by Other Finger Films (otherfingerfilms.co.uk), in association with Jenny Theolin from Soapbox and Sons (soapboxandsons.com/) and Richard Osborne from Green Goat Films (greengoatfilms.co.uk/).

Music from the amazing Miss Emma - “Une Glace au Citron [A Lemon Ice] (acoustique)” by Miss Emma (profile.myspace.com/emmanaveira), “Des poissons, des oiseaux [Fish, Birds]” by Miss Emma (profile.myspace.com/emmanaveira) and “Bubble Gum” by Miss Emma (profile.myspace.com/emmanaveira). Her awesome music allowed us to make this film what it is.

    WORK / GIG / ‘M1GRATION – MARCH OF THE ALIENS’ (2011)

    image

    ABOUT
Soapbox & Sons curated an extra special landmark gig in West London in 2011.

It was a unique collaboration between urban artist PIKY and Sheffield bands The Tivoli and The Cartels.

Rising artist PIKY curated/created a GIG in a GALLERY that brought ‘alien entertainers’ to London – and the ‘Alien Nation’ event to a fitting climax.

To round off the Alien Nation exhibition (howtobeanalien.com), which explored the way London’s new visitors experience the capital and its traditions and tribes, artist PIKY invited a new set of ‘aliens’ to come to town for this one-off event.

Sheffield bands The Tivoli and The Cartels left the steel city for the big smoke – migrating south to perform live at the Great Western Studios venue itself, in front of a backdrop of art pieces specially created for the show by PIKY.

An experiment fusing underground music and underground art, M1GRATION is an exciting collaboration that brought a fresh, outsiders’ perspective to ordinary gallery shows, and a whole new sound to the London scene.
